The Cycle of Seasons - Music and Movement Classes for Children

aged 18 months to 5 years

Classes are frequently described by parents as the "high point" of the week! Children thrive and grow in a 'doing' environment and each session provides an inspirational, intoxicating musical experience that nurtures the whole child through all the senses.

Each session lasts for approximately 50 minutes and includes:

Lots of Singing Focused Listening Movement Activities Playing Musical Instruments

Core themes are taken from nature and each session is structured around developmentally appropriate lesson plans that address a child's basic need for Movement, Sensory Motor Experience, Language and Interesting Activites.

Parents stay throughout and participate in the activities with their child. Places are limited to 12 per session and we offer vacancies as they occur through our waiting list.

The benefits of holistic music and movement education in the early years are incalculable. Research shows that the earlier a child is in an environment of holistic music making, the more likely the inborn musicality will be awakened and developed. That inate aptitude for music diminishes if it is not activiated in early childhood.

Music and Movement can...

  • Establish beat competency and nurture the singing voice.
  • Develop balance, co-ordination, dexterity and control.
  • Enhance motor control and fine motor skills.
  • Nurture confidence.
  • Develop concentration and memory skills
  • Inspire creativity
  • Help children explore abstract concepts on a experiential level.
  • Develop self-awareness, a strong sense of identity and self esteem
  • Emphasize give and take of social interaction.
  • Express activities and feelings of everyday life in mime and drama.
  • Enhance language development, communication and listening skills.
  • Improve academic skills.
  • Develop vocal expression and the singing voice.
  • Encourage quality adult / child experiences and family participation
